Today I went to the supermarket with my mother. The supermarket was very big and crowded. We first picked up a shopping cart and then walked through the aisles. I saw all kinds of goods on the shelves, such as fruits, vegetables, snacks, and drinks. My mother asked me to help her find the milk. We walked to the dairy section and I found the milk quickly. Then we bought some eggs, bread, and apples. I also chose my favorite chocolate. At the checkout counter, we waited in line for a few minutes. The cashier was very friendly and said "Thank you" to us. We paid and went home happily. I think shopping in the supermarket is interesting because I can learn many English words for everyday things.
Saturday, April 6th Rainy
This afternoon, my father and I went to the supermarket near our home. It was raining outside, so we took an umbrella. The supermarket was warm and bright. We needed to buy some food for the weekend. My father gave me a shopping list. It said: rice, cooking oil, tomatoes, chicken, and toilet paper. I pushed the cart and looked for the items one by one. I had some trouble finding the cooking oil, so I asked a shop assistant for help. She pointed to the third aisle and said, "It's over there, next to the sugar." I thanked her and found it easily. After we got everything on the list, we went to the cashier. The total was 128 yuan. My father paid by phone. On the way home, I held the umbrella and felt proud because I helped my father do the shopping.
Friday, May 10th Cloudy
Today I went to the supermarket alone for the first time. My mother gave me 50 yuan and asked me to buy some fruit and yogurt. I was a little nervous at first, but I told myself to be brave. When I entered the supermarket, I took a basket and walked to the fruit area. I picked some bananas and oranges. Then I went to the dairy section and chose two cups of strawberry yogurt. I checked the price carefully because I didn't want to spend too much money. At the checkout counter, I gave the cashier 50 yuan. She gave me the change and a receipt. I put everything into my bag and walked home. My mother was happy and said I did a good job. I felt very proud of myself. I think going to the supermarket alone is a good way to practice English and learn how to manage money.
